Immigration Refugees and Citizenship Canada has conducted the first Express Entry Draw for June 2023. This was also the 14th draw held under Express Entry in 2023 and was conducted on June 8th offering Invitations to Apply for Canada PR Visa to 4,800 candidates.
The candidates who received the ITAs in the latest all-program draw required a CRS score of at least 486. It was held after the previous draw conducted on 24th May that also offered ITAs to 4,800 candidates who had a CRS score of at least 488.
The score is more than the minimum CRS score for the all-program draw held on April 6th which has a CRS score cut-off of 483.
The selection draws based on categories may begin later this summer
IRCC announced on 31st May that it has fixed 6 new selection criteria-based categories for candidates in Express Entry. The latest categories aim at candidates having specific attributes supporting the economic goals of Canada.
The five of these categories are for the candidates having work experience in the below fields:
1. Healthcare
2. STEM - Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics professions
3. Trades, like Contractors, Plumbers, and Carpenters
4. Transport
5. Agri-food and Agriculture
The 6th category is for candidates who have strong speaking abilities in the French language. It is expected that category-based draws will commence this summer but no exact date is available.
Candidates aspiring to get ITA in the targeted draws have to be present in the Express Entry pool. Candidates in Express Entry who fulfill the category criteria will still be ranked by IRCC and ITAs will be offered to those who have the maximum scores.
Program-specific and all-program draws will still be held by IRCC as and when required.
Express Entry Trends in 2023
IRCC has offered 49, 948 ITAs in 2023 through 13 Express Entry draws excluding the latest draw. It is already considerably higher than the number of ITAs offered between the period July to November 2022 (31,000 ITAs).
All program draws were not held by IRCC till July 2022 after the pause due to the pandemic.
In May 2023, IRCC conducted 2 Express Entry draws. The first draw was held on 10th May and it was a PNP - Provincial Nominee Program-only draw offering ITAs to 589 candidates. These candidates had an active profile in Express Entry System and also a nomination for PR from a Provincial Nominee Program.
The 2 draws held in April were very identical. Both the draws were all-program draws offering ITAs to 3,500 candidates. The CRS score required for the April 12th draw was 346 and the 26th April draw required a CRS score of 483.
March was an incredible month in terms of the number of candidates receiving ITAs and the number of draws. Totally 21,677 candidates received ITAs in the 4 draws. 3 out of the 4 draws were all-program draws offering ITAs to 7,000 candidates individually. The 4th draw was a PNP-only draw offering 667 ITAs.
