What is Prince Edward Island PNP?

Prince Edward Island PNP or Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program is the Provincial Nominee Program of the Canadian Province of Prince Edward Island. It seeks to aim at overseas citizens who can make a positive contribution to the economy of the province.

The PNP of Prince Edward Island has three chief immigration categories. The first two categories are again divided into many sub-categories. The Express Entry category is the third category for Prince Edward Island Immigration. It offers a fast-track pathway for applicants to receive the PR Visa mostly in 6 months.

Requirement of Prince Edward Island Provincial Nominee Program

PEI Business Impact Program

The pathway Business Impact under PEI’s PNP is for immigration aspirants intending to invest and actively run a business in the province. It is again divided into 3 sub-categories:

PEI BIP: Category 100% Ownership

As the name indicates, the Category 100% Ownership for PEI immigration is for immigrants having full ownership of the business setup in PEI.

Requirements:

  • Category 100% Ownership under Prince Edward Island PNP requires the applicants to:
  • Provide a comprehensive business strategy for the business that will be purchased in the province
  • Provide continual and dynamic supervision of the business by remaining in the province
  • Sign an escrow agreement stipulating a deposit of $200,000
  • Make an investment of a minimum of $150,000 in the province

Furthermore, the business also has to fulfill precise requirements for becoming eligible for the Category 100% Ownership. It must be:

  • Profit-making corporation having good stature with respect to all debts and obligations
  • Sustain a lasting establishment and company headquarters in the province
  • Pay all applicable taxes for the income that is taxable· Have assets of book value worth a minimum of $150,000
  • Have the capability of creating notable monetary profit for the province

Category 100% Ownership under Prince Edward Island PNP has extensive criteria for the business as well as its owner. The reason is that the owner of the company is considered crucial as the business itself.

BIP: Category Partial Ownership

The category Partial Ownership under the Business Impact Program of the PEI PNP Program is aimed at overseas citizens seeking to purchase a business partially in PEI instead of fully owning it.

The applicants have purchased at least one-third of the possession of the business. They can also instead opt for making equity investments of at least 1,000,000 CAD in the enterprise.

Conditions

  • Provide a comprehensive business strategy for limited ownership of the enterprise
  • Provide continual and dynamic supervision of the business by remaining in the province
  • Sign an escrow agreement stipulating a deposit of $200,000
  • Make an investment of a minimum of $150,000 in the enterprise in PEI towards limited ownership of at least voting rights of 33% or make an investment of a minimum of $1 million in the enterprise

PEI Labor Impact Program

The program Labor Impact under the PNP of PEI is for candidates intending to work and stay in PEI and not seek the proprietorship of the business. They must possess precise skills, education, and experience that are needed in the labor market of the province.

The stream Labor Impact is again classified into two sub-streams. There are minor common criteria for both these sub-categories but the major criteria for both the immigration sub-categories are unique.

Labor Impact Program: Category Skilled Worker

The category Skilled Worker under the Labor Impact Program of PEI PNP aims at candidates who have been hired or will be hired by an employer in the province. They must have the knowledge and experience in a skilled occupation and Post-secondary level education.

Conditions:

  • The age of the candidates has to be between 21 to 59 years
  • Have a long-term (at least two years) job offer of full-time nature from a PEI employer at NOC skill level 0, A, or B position
  • Have an authentic Work Permit if currently working in PEI
  • Have legal status in the current country of residence
  • Possess a degree at the Post-secondary level of 2 years
  • Possess at least two years of full-time work experience or appropriate schooling in the last 2 years
  • Possess satisfactory funds for settlement in PEI
  • Prove proficiency in the language in English or French
  • Proficiency in language can be demonstrated through any of the following:
  • Score of a minimum of 4 bands in IELTS
  • A declaration of ability in the language offered by a PEI employer
  • Education from an institution that has either English or French as the primary instruction medium
Labor Impact Program: Category Critical Worker

The Category Critical Worker under the Labor Impact Program of PEI PNP is for skilled or unskilled workers. The candidates must be currently working in business in PEI or possess an employer in the province that will offer sponsorship for Permanent Resident Visa.

Some of the occupations included in this stream are Truck driving, Foodservice, General Labor, and Housekeeping.

Conditions

  • The age of the candidates has to be between 21 to 59 years
  • Have at least six years months experience full-time with a PEI employer
  • Have an authentic Work Permit
  • Have legal status in the current country of residence
  • Possess a Graduate degree at the High School level
  • Possess satisfactory funds for settlement in PEI
  • Prove proficiency in the language in English or French
  • Have a long-term (at least two years) job offer of full-time nature from a PEI employer at NOC skill level C or D in skilled or unskilled positions
  • Proficiency in language can be demonstrated through a Score of a minimum of 4 bands in IELTS with the following minimum bands' scores in the 4 language components:
  • Listening - 4.5
  • Reading - 3.5
  • Writing - 4
  • Speaking - 4

PEI Express Entry Program

The Federal Express Entry System is utilized by Prince Edward Island to allure potential immigration candidates to its Provincial Nominee Program i.e. PEI PNP. The province can offer a Notification of Interest – NOI to candidates in the Express Entry pool whose profiles fulfill the parameters specified by PEI.

Candidates who wish to be successful in their PEI Express Entry Program applications have to fulfill various requirements. They must possess skills that cater to the existing demand in the labor market of PEI. The requirements are variable over time because of the dynamic nature of the labor market needs of PEI. It is not necessary to possess an offer of a job from an employer in the province.
